In-Clinic Diagnostics
One of the most important tools for veterinarians is blood work and diagnostic testing. Each day at Bay Animal Clinic , we see pets that are not their usual playful selves, that cannot express what pain or problems they may be experiencing. Blood chemistries, complete blood counts (CBC), electrolytes, thyroid testing, fecal analysis and urinalysis can often tell us if your furry family member may have an issue that cannot be seen from the outside.
Blood chemistries indicate how well your pet’s liver, kidney and pancreas function in your pet. A CBC can indicate your pet’s overall health, as red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets are all determined, which can indicate certain infections, cancers and the blood’s ability to clot. Electrolytes indicate whether an animal is dehydrated. Finally, thyroid testing can indicate a number is diseases including Cushing’s and Addison’s disease. Fecal testing can indicate intestinal parasites that cannot be seen from the outside, and can often be spread to humans. Urinalysis can let our doctor’s know if your pet has certain infections, as well as diabetes.
At Bay Animal Clinic, we understand that you have a choice as to who provides health care to your pet. Our diagnostic capabilities, as well as experience and compassion, make our hospital an excellent choice for the life of your pet.
